Women have been applying color to their lips for centuries! Now, more than ever, we have a variety of lip colors and textures from which to choose. Following is a breakdown of lipstick textures that you may want to try.
Tip: This Fall/Winter Season we are seeing bold and bright, as well as natural and sophisticated colors. Even “glitter lips” were seen on the runways! Break your lipstick rules…anything goes this season!
STYLES + TEXTURES: Although, lipstick is mostly made up of the same ingredients (oils, wax, and pigments), there are many different textures and styles to choose from.
SATIN: A creamy consistency with a slight shine. Tip: Great for mature clients, the creamy formula will hydrate the lips and the shine will make the lips look plump. A win win.
MATTE: Matte lipsticks are opaque and for that reason lay flat. Matte lipsticks are great for all day wear. Tip: depending on the formula, matte lipstick can be dehydrating. Make sure you moisturize with Rosebud Salve or Mario Badescu Lip Wax in between applications.
LIQUID: A thick consistency that goes on wet and dries matte. This variation of lipstick is highly pigmented and coveted for its long-lasting effect. Tip: depending on the formula, liquid – matte lipstick can be dehydrating. Make sure you moisturize with Rosebud Salve or Mario Badescu Lip Wax in between applications.
GLOSSY: A reflective-high-shine, great for exaggerating your lips or creating drama.
SHEER: Best suited for a natural, no-makeup-makeup. More opaque than a lip balm but not quite as think of a consistency as matte or satin lipstick finishes. Sheer lippies are loved for their slight shine.
STAIN: A build-able lip color, with a looser consistency. Tip: Stains are made with more water so they are great for a multiple purposes. Can be used on lips and cheeks for a brush of color!
